Second Thoughts ~ What Are We Consuming?

What are you eating with your mind?

Greetings Dear Reader,

This is one of those things that I ponder in the evening. We hear the talk about gaining weight during lockdown. There are jokes about having to decide what is for dinner each night. So many things center around what we consume.

Then there is the other consumption and it concerns me much more. It is what we read, watch, and listen to that occupies me this evening. If we ponder what entertains us, it is not as healthy as it should be. When we consider what we read in our news feeds, it becomes obvious that there is more negative than positive.

What I am considering is the contrast between that on which we dine and that which we consume. If I decorated a cake beautifully and told you it was made of rat poison and horse dung, I do not think you would eat it. We will, however, dine on murder, hatred, and abuse as if it were red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.

The more serious the world problems become, the more we must be careful of what we consume. We need to be positive without being in denial. We must consider the greater good in all that we observe. It is possible to be realistic and still have peace. We can be aware of the troubles we face and still do so with hope.

What I must do is monitor what I take in and what I pass by, Dear Reader. The only way out is through. The only reality is that we must find a way to love each other well and let the consumption of the negative stop. We will not starve.

Wishing you joy in the journey,
